Auction Guide
How the auction works
Everything you need to know about registering, bidding, winning, and settling with Moura Stock Dogs Auction.
1. Register to bid
Registration is free, but every bidder must be approved by the Moura Stock Dogs Auction office before placing bids.
Step 1
Create your account & accept terms
Click Register to bid and fill out your full name, address, phone number, and email. Accept the Auction Terms & Conditions, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy, and confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally authorized to enter into a binding purchase agreement.
Step 2
Verify your card
On the next page, securely add a debit or credit card for identity verification. Your card will not be charged for any lots won. A separate invoice will be sent after the auction concludes for any lots you win.
Step 3
Wait for approval
Once your bidder registration is submitted, the Moura Stock Dogs Auction office reviews and approves it. You will receive a permanent bidder number and an email confirming you can bid.
2. Place bids
Once approved, you can bid on any open lot. You may place direct bids, set a proxy maximum, or both.
Step 1
Find a lot
Browse the live catalog. Each lot shows photos, pedigree, veterinary information, starting bid, current bid, and closing time.
Step 2
Place a bid
Enter your bid amount and confirm. Each bid must be at least the next minimum increment shown on the lot page.
Step 3
Set a maximum bid (proxy bidding)
Enter the highest amount you are willing to pay. The system will bid for you in the smallest increments needed to keep you as the high bidder, up to your max. If a lot has a reserve price and your max bid meets or exceeds it, the system may jump the current bid up to that reserve amount to keep you in the lead. You can raise your max at any time, even if you are already the high bidder.
Step 4
Watch your status
The lot page shows whether you are the current high bidder. If someone outbids you, you will see an outbid indicator and can bid again.
3. How lots close
Moura Stock Dogs Auction uses a soft-close system to keep bidding fair.
Step 1
Scheduled closing
Each sale has a scheduled close time. Lots close in order, five minutes apart, based on the sale schedule.
Step 2
Soft-close extension
If a bid is placed within the final two minutes of a lot's scheduled close, the lot extends by two minutes from the time of that bid. This prevents last-second sniping and gives everyone a fair chance to respond.
Step 3
Lot ends when quiet
Each lot closes when two full minutes have passed without a bid. As long as bidding continues, the lot stays open.
4. If you win
Winning bidders receive clear communication and have set deadlines for payment and pickup.
Step 1
You will be notified by email
If you are the high bidder when a lot closes, you will receive an email confirming you won. You will also see the lot marked as Won in your account.
Step 2
Payment deadline
Payment must be received by 5:00 p.m. Central Time on the next business day after the lot closes. If a lot closes on a Saturday or Sunday, funds must be settled by 5:00 p.m. Central Time the following Monday. Moura Stock Dogs will send you an invoice — your verified card is not automatically charged.
Step 3
Pickup or shipping
Arrange pickup or shipping directly with Moura Stock Dogs. Title and risk transfer according to the Conditions of Sale. Pickup and post-sale care timeframes apply, including the seven-calendar-day care period after the sale closes.
Step 4
Training materials and dog food included
When you win a dog, you also receive a 40 lb bag of Moura 30/20 dog food, Moura Stock Dogs Level 1 & 2 training books, stock dog whistle — the same food, books, and whistle used in our program.
Frequently asked questions
Will my maximum bid jump straight to the reserve price?▼
If the seller has set a reserve price and your maximum bid is at or above that reserve, the system may advance the current bid directly to the reserve amount so you become the high bidder. After that, the system continues to bid for you only as much as needed to keep you in the lead, never exceeding your maximum.
Will the card I used for verification be charged?▼
No. The card you provide during registration is used only for identity verification. It will not be charged for any lots you win. After the auction concludes, Moura Stock Dogs will send you a separate invoice for any winning lots with payment instructions.
What happens if I am outbid?▼
You will see an outbid indicator on the lot page and receive an email notification. You can return to the lot and enter a new bid or raise your maximum bid at any time before the lot closes.
Why did a lot close later than its scheduled time?▼
Lots use a soft-close extension. If a bid is placed within the final two minutes, the lot extends by two minutes from the time of that bid. This continues until two full minutes pass with no new bids.
